Korean Statistical System


  • The Korean statistical system can be considered to be decentralized.

  •     - Each ministry and non-government agency has the responsibility to compile various statistics
           related to its own field.

  • Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry(MAF) produces agricultural statistics.

  •     - Under the MAF, Agricultural Information and Statistics Bureau is charge of producing
           about 30 kinds of statistics on agriculture.

  • National Statistical Office(NSO) is responsible for a few statistics affairs related to basic agricultural
        statistics.


  • National Agricultural Cooperative Federation(NACF) conducts survey on the prices,
        wages and the charges paid by farmers and prices received by farmers.

  • Korea Rural Economy Institute(KREI) conducts monthly and annual outlook on crops

  •     - Radish, Chinese Cabbage, Red Pepper, Garlic, Onion, Welsh Onion, Apple,
           Pear and Grape
  • National Livestock Cooperative Federation(NLCF) conducts quarterly outlook on 5 items

  •     - Korean Cattle, Dairy Cattle, Pig and Chickens.
